Responsible AI Policy
Last Updated: April 2026
Execlave is an AI agent governance platform designed to help organizations deploy, monitor, and control AI agents responsibly. This policy describes how we approach AI ethics, what AI-related capabilities our platform uses, and the responsibilities we share with our customers.
Our Mission
We believe that AI agents can deliver tremendous value when deployed with appropriate governance, oversight, and accountability. Execlave exists to make it easier for organizations to:
- Maintain visibility into what AI agents are doing through comprehensive tracing and audit logging
- Enforce boundaries through policy rules that prevent harmful or unauthorized actions
- Enable human oversight through approval workflows, kill switches, and alerting
- Demonstrate compliance through tamper-evident audit trails and framework-mapped evidence
AI Capabilities in Execlave
Semantic Policy Evaluation
When customers enable semantic policy evaluation, Execlave uses locally deployed open-source large language models (LLMs) to analyze agent inputs and determine whether they comply with configured governance policies. This enables nuanced policy enforcement beyond simple keyword matching. No agent data is sent to external AI APIs.
- Customer control: Semantic evaluation is opt-in per policy. Customers can rely solely on deterministic rule-based enforcement if preferred.
- Data sovereignty: All AI processing runs within the deployment infrastructure — no data leaves the environment for AI evaluation.
- Open-source models: Execlave uses Apache-2.0 licensed models with no usage restrictions or data collection terms.
Anomaly Detection
Execlave uses statistical machine learning techniques (EWMA with seasonal decomposition) to detect unusual patterns in agent behavior. This helps identify potential issues before they escalate.
- Anomaly detection runs on aggregated trace data
- Models are computed per-organization; no cross-customer data mixing
- Alerts are generated for human review, not automatic enforcement
AI-Assisted Policy Generation
Execlave may offer AI-assisted policy generation to help customers create governance rules. When enabled:
- Generated policies are suggestions requiring human review and approval
- Customers retain full control over which policies are activated
- AI suggestions do not automatically affect enforcement
Human Oversight
Execlave is built on the principle that humans should remain in control of AI systems. We provide multiple mechanisms for human oversight:
Kill Switch
Any agent can be paused instantly via the dashboard or API. When activated, the kill switch takes effect in under 100ms, immediately stopping the agent from performing further actions.
Approval Workflows
Policies can be configured to require human approval before sensitive actions are allowed. Approval requests can be routed to Slack or other notification channels, ensuring timely human review.
Audit Trails
Every governance-relevant action is recorded in an append-only, cryptographically chained audit log. This provides a complete record for human review and investigation.
Alerting
Customers can configure alerts for policy violations, anomalies, and other events that require human attention.
Customer Responsibilities
Execlave provides governance tools, but customers remain responsible for the AI agents they deploy and the data they process. Specifically:
Lawful Use
Customers are responsible for ensuring their AI agents comply with applicable laws and regulations. Execlave helps generate compliance evidence but does not guarantee legal compliance.
AI System Classification
Under regulations like the EU AI Act, certain AI systems may be classified as high-risk. Customers are responsible for determining whether their AI agents fall into regulated categories and for implementing appropriate controls.
Content and Output Responsibility
Customers are responsible for the content processed by their AI agents and the outputs those agents generate. Execlave can help block certain categories of content through policy enforcement, but ultimate responsibility lies with the customer.
Prompt and Tool Responsibility
The prompts, tools, and capabilities customers configure for their AI agents determine agent behavior. Execlave provides version control and approval workflows for prompts, but customers are responsible for prompt content and safety.
Safety and Limitations
We are transparent about what Execlave can and cannot do:
What Execlave Provides
- Policy enforcement on agent actions (block, warn, require approval)
- Comprehensive tracing and audit logging
- Anomaly detection and alerting
- Human oversight mechanisms (kill switch, approval workflows)
- Compliance evidence generation mapped to regulatory frameworks
What Execlave Cannot Guarantee
- Perfect safety: No governance system can prevent all possible harms. Defense in depth and human oversight remain essential.
- Legal compliance: Execlave is designed to support compliance efforts but cannot guarantee that customers meet all legal requirements.
- Agent behavior: Execlave governs agents but does not control them. Customer-configured agents may still produce unexpected outputs within allowed policy bounds.
- Third-party AI models: The behavior of LLM providers like OpenAI or Anthropic used by customer agents is outside Execlave's control. We provide tools to monitor and constrain agent interactions with these models.
Compliance Framework Support
Execlave is designed to support customer compliance efforts with the following frameworks:
- SOC 2 Type II: Access controls, monitoring, change management, audit logging
- ISO 27001: Information security management, asset handling, access control
- EU AI Act: Human oversight, risk management, record-keeping, transparency
Execlave generates compliance reports and evidence packages mapped to specific controls within these frameworks. However, customers should work with qualified legal and compliance professionals to determine their specific obligations.
Prohibited AI Uses
Customers may not use Execlave to govern AI agents that are designed or used to:
- Generate illegal content or facilitate illegal activities
- Engage in unauthorized surveillance or mass biometric processing
- Create deepfakes or synthetic media intended to deceive
- Manipulate individuals through subliminal techniques
- Exploit vulnerabilities of specific groups (children, disabled persons)
- Social scoring by public authorities
- Weapons development or autonomous weapons systems
See our Acceptable Use Policy for complete details.
Continuous Improvement
We are committed to continuously improving our responsible AI practices:
- We monitor emerging AI governance best practices and regulations
- We engage with the AI safety and governance community
- We incorporate customer feedback into product development
- We regularly review and update this policy
